Valmet to Deliver Advanced Board Making Line for Sun Paper’s China Mill
Valmet has secured an order to supply a complete board making line to Sun Paper’s mill in Nanning, China, supporting the company’s plans to expand containerboard production with improved energy efficiency and operational reliability.
The project includes a full board machine, covering equipment from headboxes to winders, along with advanced automation systems, digital services, spare parts, paper machine clothing and lifecycle support. The new production line is scheduled to begin operations in fall 2027.
The board machine will incorporate Valmet’s sleeve roll technology, designed to improve dewatering efficiency in the forming section by utilizing forming fabric compression. According to the company, the technology helps reduce energy consumption while maintaining high board quality.
The dryer section features a compact design that enhances drying efficiency, improves machine runnability and supports consistent high-performance production. Valmet said the integrated technologies are intended to maximize productivity while optimizing energy and resource use.
Ying Guangdong, Vice General Manager and Chief Engineer of Sun Paper, said the selected machine concept and advanced technologies align with the company’s goals of achieving stable, energy-efficient production while meeting its planned capacity expansion. He also highlighted the long-standing partnership between Sun Paper and Valmet, expressing confidence in the success of the new project.
The order further strengthens Valmet’s position as a supplier of advanced board manufacturing technologies for the global packaging industry, helping paper producers enhance productivity, reduce energy use and improve overall operational performance.
