QLM Strengthens Flexible Packaging Business with Roastar Acquisition

QLM Group has acquired the assets and customer portfolio of coffee packaging specialist Roastar, expanding its presence in the flexible packaging sector and strengthening its capabilities in the coffee packaging market.

The acquisition combines Roastar’s expertise in coffee packaging with QLM’s manufacturing, digital printing and supply chain capabilities, enabling the company to offer enhanced packaging solutions to coffee roasters across the region.

As part of the transaction, QLM has also secured an exclusive distribution agreement for Prime Vent, a degassing valve technology designed for coffee packaging. The company said the valve extends product shelf life while reducing plastic usage by 95% compared with conventional degassing valves. QLM will hold exclusive distribution rights for the technology in Australia and Southeast Asia.

The acquisition follows QLM’s recent A$8 million investment to expand its manufacturing capacity in Australia. The company plans to relocate Roastar’s specialised equipment to its Brisbane facility, where it will operate a production model that combines regional manufacturing with local finishing.

Commenting on the acquisition, Simon Pugh, Managing Director of QLM Label Makers, said the addition of Roastar strengthens the company’s position in the flexible packaging market by bringing together specialised coffee packaging expertise and advanced technology.

Headquartered in the Asia-Pacific region, QLM operates eight manufacturing facilities across five countries, providing labels, folded cartons, flexible packaging and custom printing solutions. The acquisition further supports the company’s strategy to expand its sustainable packaging portfolio and deliver greater value to coffee industry customers.
