Dunapack to Acquire EL Pack’s Corrugated Operations in Greece

Dunapack Packaging Hellas, a subsidiary of Austria-based Prinzhorn Group, has signed an agreement to acquire the corrugated packaging operations of EL Pack in Greece, marking a major expansion of its presence in the country’s packaging industry.

The proposed acquisition includes EL Pack’s manufacturing facilities located in Patras, Kapandriti, and Thiva, which together employ approximately 250 people. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed during the second half of 2026.

EL Pack’s flagship plant in Patras has an annual production capacity exceeding 80 million square meters of corrugated packaging products. The Kapandriti facility operates two corrugated board production lines, while the Thiva plant is equipped with three converting lines.

The deal excludes EL Pack’s recycled packaging paper mill in Damasta and its recovered paper business, Fthiotis Recycling. The Damasta mill, capable of producing more than 35,000 tonnes per year of recycled liner and fluting, will remain outside the transaction.

According to available financial data, EL Pack reported €41 million in sales and an operating profit of €1.5 million in 2024, both lower than the previous year’s performance.

Dunapack Packaging Hellas currently operates a corrugated packaging facility in Schimatari, Voiotia, and has been part of the Prinzhorn Group since 2016. Between 2017 and mid-2022, the company invested significantly in the site, including the installation of a new corrugator, upgraded converting equipment, facility expansions, and increased storage capacity.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Dunapack’s position in the Greek corrugated packaging market by combining EL Pack’s local customer relationships with Dunapack’s regional manufacturing network and integrated business model. The company believes the transaction will create new growth opportunities and enhance its ability to serve customers across Greece.
