Crown Packaging Breaks Ground on ₹2,078 Crore Aluminium Can Plant in Unnao

Crown Packaging India Pvt. Ltd. has broken ground on a greenfield aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility at the Integrated Manufacturing & Logistics Cluster (IMLC) in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The project involves an investment of ₹2,078.44 crore and marks Crown Holdings’ first manufacturing facility in India.

The facility is being developed across nearly 40 acres at Plot No. 4 of IMLC Unnao and will manufacture aluminium beverage cans for the Indian beverage industry. The project comes as demand for efficient and lightweight beverage packaging continues to grow in the country.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the project is expected to generate economic activity beyond the manufacturing facility through logistics, warehousing, transportation, maintenance, supplier networks and other ancillary services. The development is also expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities as the surrounding industrial ecosystem expands.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Uttar Pradesh government and industrial development agencies, including Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Infrastructure and Industrial Development Alok Kumar, State Transformation Commission CEO Manoj Kumar Singh, and senior officials from UPEIDA and Invest UP.

Crown Holdings was represented at the ceremony by Djalma Novaes Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Mark Ketcheson, President of Crown Bevcan EMEA.

The investment strengthens manufacturing activity at IMLC Unnao and is aimed at serving the growing domestic beverage packaging market. The facility will add further aluminium beverage can production capacity in India while integrating an international packaging company into Uttar Pradesh’s expanding industrial ecosystem.

The development also aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to attract large-scale manufacturing investments by strengthening industrial infrastructure and logistics networks across the state. With the new facility, Crown Packaging is set to establish a significant manufacturing presence in India and support the country’s evolving beverage packaging sector.
