Valmet Completes Severn Group Acquisition, Expanding Global Flow Control Capabilities

Valmet has successfully completed its acquisition of Severn Group, a leading industrial valve company specializing in severe service flow control solutions. Originally announced in December 2025, the acquisition includes Severn Glocon, ValvTechnologies, and LB Bentley, strengthening Valmet’s position in the global industrial flow control market.

The acquisition marks a significant step in Valmet’s growth strategy, enhancing its Process Performance Solutions segment, which already contributes nearly half of the company’s profitability. By adding Severn’s expertise, technologies, and customer base, Valmet is accelerating its expansion beyond its traditional biomaterials business and into high-growth industrial sectors.

According to Valmet President and CEO Thomas Hinnerskov, the deal supports the company’s “Lead the Way” strategy by opening new opportunities in refining, energy, and metals industries. The acquisition also brings a large installed base that can benefit from Valmet’s lifecycle service model, creating additional aftermarket growth potential while strengthening its severe service flow control capabilities.

Around 950 Severn employees will join Valmet, bringing extensive technical expertise and industry knowledge. Severn will be integrated into Valmet’s Flow Control business area, further reinforcing the company’s position as a leading supplier of mission-critical valve and valve automation solutions for global process industries.

The acquisition significantly expands Valmet’s industrial valve portfolio and enhances its ability to support customers navigating the global energy transition. The combined capabilities of Valmet and Severn will serve industries including oil and gas, chemicals, renewable energy, power generation, biomaterials, mining and metals, and subsea applications.

Valmet believes the combination of its existing valve technologies with Severn’s expertise in demanding flow control applications creates a unique offering for industries where operational reliability, energy efficiency, and process safety are critical. The company aims to help customers secure the availability of energy and essential raw materials while supporting the transition toward more sustainable and resilient industrial systems.

The acquisition reflects Valmet’s continued focus on industrial innovation, advanced flow control solutions, energy transition technologies, and long-term growth in global process industries.
