CMC Innovation Day 2026 Highlights the Future of Packaging Automation and Sustainable Fulfilment
More than 160 industry professionals representing 87 companies from 30 countries gathered at the headquarters of CMC Packaging Automation in Città di Castello, Italy, for CID26 – CMC Innovation Day 2026. The annual event focused on the latest developments in fulfilment automation, systems integration and right-sized packaging technologies.
Centered on the theme “Ecosystem,” the event brought together customers, technology partners, policymakers and industry experts to discuss how collaboration is driving innovation across packaging, logistics and eCommerce fulfilment. The program featured international keynote speakers, customer case studies, live technology demonstrations and discussions on emerging industry challenges.
The event opened with remarks from CMC founder Giuseppe Ponti and Chairman and CEO Francesco Ponti, who emphasized the importance of innovation, engineering expertise and long-term partnerships in shaping the future of fulfilment operations.
A key session addressed the European Union’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The discussion featured Pietro Fiocchi, Member of the European Parliament and Vice-Chair of the ENVI Committee, alongside Chiara Signoria, ESG Director at CMC Packaging Automation, and Tim Werkhoven, Group Head of Public Affairs at Mondi Group. The panel explored the regulatory landscape and its potential impact on the packaging sector.
CMC executives also shared the company’s strategic direction and recent advancements in right-sized packaging automation. Presentations highlighted how automated packaging solutions are helping businesses improve operational efficiency, reduce packaging materials and support sustainability goals. Customers contributed real-world examples demonstrating the benefits of packaging automation in modern fulfilment environments.
Attendees were introduced to the latest developments in CMC’s innovation roadmap, including the CMC Genesys PRIMA platform and the CMC Vertical ONE concept. These technologies reflect the company’s ongoing investment in flexible, efficient and sustainable packaging automation systems.
Throughout the event, visitors witnessed 11 live demonstrations featuring technologies such as CMC Genesys, CMC Genesys Compact, CMC CartonWrap DUO, CMC Super Vertical, CMC Paper-PRO and CMC Corrugator. The demonstrations showcased how right-sized packaging automation can streamline fulfilment operations, improve productivity and minimize waste.
CID26 also underscored the importance of collaboration across the packaging ecosystem. By bringing together technology providers, customers and regulatory stakeholders, the event provided a platform for knowledge sharing and discussions on practical solutions to evolving industry requirements.
