Clearwater Paper Launches Recycled Paperboard Range for US Folding Carton Packaging
Clearwater Paper Corporation has introduced a new range of coated recycled board (CRB) products for folding carton and carrier packaging applications in the United States, strengthening its sustainable packaging portfolio through a collaboration with Greenpaper.
The new Circa paperboard range is designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance recycled fiber packaging while supporting brands’ sustainability goals. Developed with Greenpaper, the range combines strong printability, durability, and wet-strength performance for a variety of consumer packaging applications.
According to Virginia Aulin, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Clearwater Paper, the Circa portfolio complements the company’s existing solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard products. While SBS remains the preferred choice for premium applications such as cosmetics and pharmaceutical packaging, the new CRB products are aimed at dry food and everyday consumer goods.
The Circa range includes Circa Carton, a coated recycled folding carton board, and Circa Carrier, a high-strength carrier board engineered to perform in demanding packaging environments.
Manufactured using Greenpaper’s circular production process, the paperboard is made entirely from recycled fiber sourced from post-consumer materials. The products are suitable for packaging dry foods such as cereals and crackers, household products including laundry detergents, hardware, toys, and personal care items.
Clearwater Paper said the partnership with Greenpaper combines recycled paperboard manufacturing expertise with Clearwater’s established US distribution network, customer support, and technical service capabilities to ensure consistent quality, reliable supply, and competitive pricing.
The launch follows Clearwater Paper’s introduction of Velora, a lightweight folding carton paperboard unveiled earlier this year, further expanding the company’s portfolio of sustainable packaging materials.
