Woodberry Packaging Acquires Medica Packaging and F.G. Curtis to Strengthen Carton Packaging Business
Woodberry Packaging has acquired UK-based Medica Packaging and F.G. Curtis in a strategic move to expand its carton packaging capabilities across the pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetics, and personal care sectors.
Both companies will continue operating under their existing brands and management teams, ensuring continuity for employees, customers, and suppliers.
Following the acquisition, the enlarged group employs approximately 650 people across the UK and Ireland and generates annual revenues exceeding €120 million ($137 million). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Woodberry Packaging CEO Peter Santo described the acquisition as an important step in the company’s long-term European growth strategy. He highlighted Medica as the UK’s largest independent pharmaceutical carton converter and F.G. Curtis as a highly respected provider of cosmetics packaging solutions.
The acquisition strengthens Woodberry’s presence in regulated packaging markets and expands its expertise in folding carton production. Together with Woodberry’s existing Reelvision facility, the group now operates three PS 9000-accredited carton manufacturing sites in the UK, a key quality standard for pharmaceutical packaging.
Woodberry stated that the expanded network will provide customers with a single accredited packaging partner while enhancing security of supply, an increasingly important requirement in pharmaceutical and healthcare markets.
Medica Packaging Managing Director Gerard Harford said joining a larger group would provide greater scale and investment opportunities while maintaining the quality, compliance, and reliability expected by pharmaceutical customers.
F.G. Curtis Managing Director James Williams added that the partnership would support future growth while preserving the service standards valued by customers.
The acquisition reflects growing demand for carton packaging solutions across healthcare, pharmaceutical, beauty, and personal care sectors, reinforcing the importance of sustainable and high-quality paperboard packaging in regulated markets.
