tesa Drives Sustainable Packaging Innovation Through Thai Packaging Design Awards 2026
BANGKOK – Global adhesive solutions manufacturer tesa is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable packaging innovation across the Asia-Pacific region through its sponsorship of the tesa Special Award at the Thai Packaging Design Awards (ThaiPDA) 2026.
The initiative highlights tesa’s ongoing efforts to support packaging designers, brand owners and manufacturers in developing creative solutions that advance circular economy principles while improving packaging functionality and consumer appeal.
The tesa Special Award recognizes outstanding packaging concepts that incorporate tesa’s paper-based adhesive tapes to enhance structural performance, visual presentation and sustainability. By encouraging innovative applications of adhesive technology, the award demonstrates how packaging components can contribute to more resource-efficient and recyclable packaging systems.
According to Andreas Gunnestrand, President and Regional Manager of tesa tape Asia-Pacific, the future of packaging depends on successfully balancing creativity, functionality and sustainability. He emphasized that collaboration between design and technology is essential for creating packaging solutions that not only attract consumers but also support environmental objectives.
The 2026 awards showcased exceptional packaging concepts from both professional designers and students. In the Professional category, Chaiwat Kuansutthi and Aroon Suachoy of Chanwanich Security Printing Co., Ltd received top honors for their “Chann House Diffuser” packaging design, inspired by Thailand’s traditional shophouse architecture. The concept demonstrated how cultural heritage can be integrated into modern, functional packaging.
In the Student category, Pisit Khongsrijan from Silpakorn University was recognized for “Boxy,” a packaging concept inspired by collectible action figure display boxes. The design was praised for creating a strong visual impact while enhancing consumer engagement and shelf appeal.
The winning entries demonstrated how innovative design, material selection and sustainable thinking can work together to reduce environmental impact while strengthening brand communication and user experience.
As sustainability becomes a key focus for brand owners worldwide, packaging materials and components are increasingly being evaluated for recyclability and circularity. tesa’s paper-based design tapes support these objectives by enabling plastic-free and mono-material packaging solutions that simplify recycling processes.
Suitable for corrugated packaging, folding cartons and mailing applications, the tapes can be recycled alongside paper packaging without requiring separation during the repulping stage. This helps reduce material complexity and supports more efficient recycling streams.
Through partnerships such as the Thai Packaging Design Awards, tesa continues to collaborate with designers, converters, manufacturers and brand owners to accelerate the adoption of sustainable packaging solutions throughout Asia-Pacific. The company believes that closer integration of design, material science and manufacturing expertise will play a crucial role in advancing the next generation of circular packaging systems.
As the packaging industry evolves to meet growing sustainability demands, tesa remains focused on developing innovative adhesive technologies that deliver value for businesses, consumers and the environment.
