TekniPlex Healthcare is set to showcase its latest advancements in pharmaceutical packaging technologies, high-performance barrier materials, and expanded injection blow molding capabilities for multidose vial applications at The Pharma Days 2026, scheduled to take place on May 27–28 in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the event, Robin Van Landeghem, Head of Strategic Innovation and Market Development at TekniPlex Healthcare, will deliver a presentation focused on the impact of the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) on the pharmaceutical packaging industry.
According to Van Landeghem, the new regulations are driving major changes in the way pharmaceutical companies approach primary packaging solutions. He stated that recyclability and material reduction are increasingly becoming essential requirements rather than long-term goals, particularly for blister packaging formats.
He added that TekniPlex Healthcare aims to support pharmaceutical manufacturers by providing advanced polymer packaging technologies that combine regulatory compliance, product protection, and efficient manufacturability.
Among the key products being highlighted at the event are TekniFlex cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) thermoformable blister films paired with barrier polypropylene lidding films, designed for applications requiring medium- to high-level moisture protection.
For pharmaceutical products with minimal moisture barrier needs, the company offers thermoformable polyester blister films along with push-through polyester lidding solutions.
TekniPlex Healthcare will also present a pharmaceutical-grade blister film developed in collaboration with Alpek Polyester. The material contains 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content using a mass balance approach and is intended for low-barrier pharmaceutical applications.
In addition, the company will showcase its advanced barrier packaging portfolio, including Aclar laminates and PFAS-free super barrier-coated materials aimed at enhancing sustainability while maintaining high product protection standards.
The company recently expanded operations at its Madison, US facility as part of its Barrier Protection Systems business, strengthening its production and innovation capabilities in pharmaceutical packaging.
TekniPlex Healthcare has also increased its injection blow molding capacity for multidose vial packaging solutions used in various pharmaceutical liquid applications, including ophthalmic products.
Its vial and bottle range currently spans from 5 mL to 30 mL and includes a 10 mL squeezable container developed for Aptar Pharma’s Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser platform, which is designed for preservative-free multidose eye care formulations.
