Ovoko has collaborated with to develop a customised heavy-duty packaging solution designed to improve the shipment of large and fragile automotive parts in the eCommerce sector.

Ovoko, an online marketplace specialising in automotive spare parts, was facing challenges with its previous packaging system, which was costly and did not provide adequate protection during transportation. The company needed a packaging format capable of safely handling oversized and delicate car components while also reducing operational complexity and packaging expenses.

To address these requirements, Mondi adapted its existing expertise in automotive packaging and redesigned a heavy-duty packaging concept specifically for eCommerce logistics. The new solution was engineered to match the precise shape and dimensions of car bumpers, helping eliminate unnecessary empty space and optimise material usage.

The customised packaging was developed to provide stronger protection throughout the transportation process while also simplifying assembly and improving efficiency for Ovoko’s operations. Following successful testing under real-world shipping conditions, the solution was approved and the initial trial order was delivered within two weeks.

According to Ovoko, the company required packaging that could combine ease of assembly, durability, and cost efficiency while supporting the wide range of automotive components sold through its online marketplace. The new packaging system has reportedly helped reduce packaging costs while improving product safety during transit.

Mondi stated that the project demonstrates how combining automotive packaging expertise with eCommerce logistics knowledge can create measurable operational benefits for complex product categories such as oversized vehicle parts.

A significant part of the development process involved testing at Mondi’s ISTA-certified laboratory located within its ThinkBOX eCommerce innovation hub in Budweis. The facility simulates real-life logistics conditions including stacking pressure, handling impacts, vibration, and drop tests to ensure packaging solutions meet international transport standards while balancing product protection, material efficiency, and cost performance.

The collaboration reflects the growing demand for specialised packaging solutions in the eCommerce automotive sector, where businesses increasingly require durable, efficient, and sustainable packaging systems for large and fragile products.
