Paranova and AMFresh Launch New Grape Variety in Fibre-Based Packaging
Paranova and AMFresh have launched a new grape variety in fibre-based packaging, marking another step toward the adoption of paper-based solutions in the fresh produce sector. The new packaging format is designed to combine the functional requirements of fresh produce distribution with the growing demand for more fibre-based packaging options.
The FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnet is designed to provide machinability and compatibility with existing packing lines, allowing customers to transition to fibre-based packaging with minimal changes to their current operations. This approach enables producers and retailers to introduce alternative packaging formats without significant disruption to established packing processes.
For the BOOMBITES grape launch, Paranova is producing nearly one million FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnets, highlighting the potential for fibre-based packaging to be deployed at commercial scale. The project also demonstrates the adaptability of the FibreFresh platform for different fresh produce categories.
“Producing nearly one million FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnets for the BOOMBITES grape launch is a significant milestone for Paranova and demonstrates how quickly our FibreFresh range is gaining momentum across the fresh produce sector,” said Michael Conway, Chief Commercial Officer, Paranova.
According to Conway, the project demonstrates how the FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnet can be adapted for new produce categories while maintaining the quality, performance and shelf appeal expected by retailers and consumers. The companies said the launch further supports efforts to enable a wider transition toward fibre-based packaging across the fresh produce industry.
