Cirkla will establish a new manufacturing facility in Gainesville, Georgia, dedicated to scaling sustainable molded fiber packaging solutions for the U.S. meat and food industry.
Cirkla, a developer of molded fiber packaging solutions, has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Gainesville, Georgia, with production expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The company said the facility will be dedicated to scaling sustainable molded fiber packaging for the U.S. food and meat packaging market.
The new facility is designed to support growing demand from meat processors, protein brands and grocery retailers seeking alternatives to conventional plastic packaging. Cirkla said its fiber packaging technology combines high-barrier performance with reduced plastic use and is designed for large-scale commercial applications.
The Gainesville facility will incorporate automation, in-house quality laboratories, precision manufacturing technology and expanded finishing capabilities. Once fully operational, it is expected to create more than 100 jobs while increasing production capacity and improving delivery times for U.S. customers.
The site will manufacture Cirkla’s portfolio of molded fiber products, including Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) and overwrap trays. These solutions are designed for applications where product protection, freshness and packaging performance are critical.
According to Cirkla, the company’s molded fiber technology has already been validated through its manufacturing operations in India and commercial applications in demanding protein categories. The new U.S. facility will allow the company to bring production closer to customers and support broader adoption across the American market.
Cirkla’s expansion also reflects the wider move toward sustainable packaging solutions in the food industry. Beyond meat and poultry, molded fiber packaging can be used for produce, ready meals, dairy and other food applications.
The company develops packaging from renewable plant-based fibers, including sugarcane bagasse, bamboo and wood pulp. Its portfolio includes molded fiber MAP trays, ready-meal packaging, dairy tubs, compostable coffee capsules and other fiber-based products.
With the Gainesville investment, Cirkla aims to strengthen its North American manufacturing presence while helping food brands transition toward high-performance packaging solutions with lower dependence on conventional plastics.
