WINTIPAK Strengthens Production Capabilities with HEIDELBERG Boardmaster Investment
WINTIPAK AG, a Switzerland-based global supplier of aseptic packaging materials for liquid food applications, has announced a major investment in the Boardmaster inline flexographic printing press from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG). The move is aimed at expanding production capacity at the company’s facility in Halle, Germany, while improving operational efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability.
The advanced Boardmaster printing system is designed to support high-speed production, operating at speeds of up to 600 meters per minute. Its ability to perform job changes within seconds enables manufacturers to process multiple orders each day while maintaining consistent print quality and minimizing production costs.
A key advantage of the technology is its ability to significantly reduce material waste. Since carton board is one of the most valuable raw materials in packaging production, waste reduction remains a critical factor for both sustainability and cost control. According to HEIDELBERG, the Boardmaster platform can reduce startup waste by up to 90%, helping manufacturers improve resource efficiency and environmental performance.
WINTIPAK’s investment reflects its commitment to adopting future-ready technologies that support both economic growth and sustainable packaging production. With more than 20 years of industry experience and a strong international presence, the company continues to provide efficient and customized packaging material solutions to brands worldwide.
“HEIDELBERG’s extensive experience together with their latest innovation for drastic production-cost reduction at the highest quality level have been decisive factors for WINTIPAK’s investment in the Boardmaster platform,” said Markku Vauhkonen, CEO of WINTIPAK AG.
The German production facility plays a central role in WINTIPAK’s long-term expansion plans. In 2025, the company marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new production hall at the Halle site. The additional infrastructure is expected to support increasing production volumes and future market demand.
Before selecting HEIDELBERG’s solution, WINTIPAK conducted a comprehensive evaluation of technologies from multiple suppliers. The final decision included the adoption of the Intellimatch scanner solution alongside the Boardmaster platform.
For HEIDELBERG, the project highlights growing demand for advanced packaging technologies that support sustainable paper-based and carton packaging. The company sees strong growth opportunities in the folding carton segment as brands and consumers increasingly shift toward environmentally responsible packaging solutions.
“The high international demand for the Boardmaster confirms that we are serving attractive growth markets with our solutions,” said Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG. “The global trend toward sustainable packaging made from paper and cardboard continues to grow, and we provide the technology and services needed to optimize production efficiency and reduce costs.”
