Valmet will supply its Valmet IQ Quality Control System to Acme Corrugated Box Co., Inc. to enhance corrugator performance at its U.S. facility. The advanced system is designed to improve board quality, increase production efficiency, and optimize overall converting operations.

The delivery includes integrated controls for paper temperature, moisture balance, total moisture, and flatness, all connected to the plant’s existing corrugator heating system. It also features Valmet’s proven moisture measurement technologies along with an automated moisturizing solution to ensure precise process control.

Kevin Landman, Maintenance Manager at Acme Corrugated Box, highlighted the growing importance of moisture control in modern operations. As production speeds increase and raw material variability rises, real-time process control has become essential. He noted that Valmet was selected for its expertise in accurately measuring and managing moisture profiles, as well as its ability to seamlessly integrate with existing systems. The implementation is expected to deliver improved board consistency, higher machine speeds, enhanced runnability, faster converting throughput, and reduced waste.

David Maddux, Board Converting Automation Sales Manager at Valmet, emphasized that the system will support more stable production, consistent quality, and lower operator workload. Its advanced automation capabilities, including moisture and warp measurement with closed-loop controls, are also expected to contribute to sustainability goals by minimizing material waste.

The order was recorded in Valmet’s third-quarter 2025 intake, with financial details undisclosed. The system is scheduled to be operational in the second quarter of 2026.

Technical Overview:
The delivery includes Valmet IQ Warp Measurement, Valmet IQ Moisturizer, Valmet IQ Multipoint Moisture, and microwave-based moisture measurement, all integrated into an automated control system. The Valmet IQ Quality Control System combines real-time monitoring of moisture, temperature, and warp to improve bonding, reduce sheet distortion, and maximize overall corrugated board production performance.
