Lecta has confirmed that its entire packaging portfolio, including products designed for food packaging, is now manufactured without added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

The decision establishes a global company-wide standard after a comprehensive review of formulations, careful selection of raw materials, and stronger monitoring across its supply chain. Following this transition, the “No PFAS Added” label will no longer be used in individual product names, as all of Lecta’s packaging paper ranges are now produced without added PFAS.

The commitment applies to the company’s full packaging portfolio, covering flexible and rigid packaging materials, self-adhesive products, labels, and bags.

Lecta has also introduced new grease-resistant papers without added PFAS across its Creaset, Metalvac, and Adestor ranges. These papers are designed to replace traditional greaseproof materials used in food and food service packaging while maintaining strong technical performance and efficient processing, enabling a smooth transition to safer and more sustainable alternatives.

The initiative aligns with the upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, which will take effect on August 12, 2026. The regulation includes restrictions on PFAS in packaging and requires manufacturers to eliminate these substances while meeting strict standards for recyclability, chemical safety, and circularity.

As regulatory pressure increases, moving toward packaging solutions without added PFAS is becoming essential for long-term compliance. Similar regulatory developments are also emerging in markets outside the European Union, reinforcing the need for reliable alternatives to PFAS-based materials.

Through its range of barrier papers without added PFAS, Lecta aims to provide converters and packaging companies with scalable solutions that help them meet evolving regulations while maintaining the quality and performance expected by the market.
