Altamont Capital Partners has announced a strategic investment in Key Container Corporation, a New England–based corrugated box manufacturer, aimed at supporting the company’s growth and building a scaled corrugated packaging platform.
Key Container, founded in 1959 by Jack Sundel and his son-in-law Richard Strauss, specializes in custom and specialty corrugated packaging products for customers across the northeastern United States. The family-owned business is currently led by President David Strauss, the son of Richard Strauss, while the next generation is represented by Sales Manager Matthew Strauss, David’s son.
With the backing of Altamont’s industry expertise and resources, David Strauss will continue to lead the company, focusing on expanding its regional footprint and strengthening customer relationships. The partnership is expected to enhance operational capabilities and support long-term expansion in the corrugated packaging sector.
“We are excited to partner with Altamont as we continue to support our customers with their packaging needs,” said David Strauss, President of Key Container. He noted that Altamont’s growth strategies and network of experts will help strengthen operations, open new customer opportunities, and support the company’s vision of delivering comprehensive packaging solutions.
Billy Medof, Operating Partner at Altamont, highlighted Key Container’s longstanding reputation in the industry. He stated that evolving customer demands require packaging suppliers to remain flexible, reliable, and customer-focused, and added that Key Container’s facilities, operations, and service position it well for growth in an increasingly dynamic market.
Chase Beeler, Managing Director at Altamont, said the firm sees strong potential in family-run businesses with solid foundations operating in industries with stable long-term demand. He added that Altamont’s strategic platform-building approach, known as Altamont Ascend, will help accelerate Key Container’s development and unlock new growth opportunities.
