DS Smith Enhances Lalique Beauty’s “Tales of Light” Home Fragrance Launch with Innovative Packaging Design

Lalique Beauty, part of the Lalique Group and inspired by the legacy of the iconic Lalique crystal house, has partnered with DS Smith, an International Paper business and a global leader in fibre-based sustainable packaging, to develop bespoke packaging for its new home fragrance collection, Tales of Light.

A blend of heritage and innovation in packaging design

The Tales of Light collection marks the debut of Lalique Beauty’s new visual identity. It features six scented candles—L’Escapade, L’Atelier, La Comédie, La Demeure, La Muse, and La Verrerie—alongside three premium diffusers.

Drawing inspiration from the furnace shape at Lalique’s historic crystal works in Wingen-sur-Moder, Alsace, the collection is produced at the brand’s Ury, France facility, which combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.

Sustainable and premium packaging solution

Through its collaboration with DS Smith, Lalique Beauty has integrated sustainability into a highly customized packaging approach. The packaging is made using FSC-certified, fully recyclable cardboard materials.

To ensure product protection, corrugated inserts with anti-abrasion varnish are used to safeguard the delicate glass candle jars. The outer cases are produced using high-quality graphic board, enhanced with offset printing, selective varnishing, and a refined graining process that evokes the soft, satin-like texture of Lalique crystal.

The packaging also showcases the new Tales of Light logo, featuring swallows—an emblem associated with René Lalique—symbolizing freedom and the beginning of a new creative journey.

A spokesperson for Lalique Beauty stated that the collection reflects the brand’s signature interplay between light, material, and craftsmanship, while also embracing sustainability.

Marie Labouret, Sales and Marketing Director at DS Smith Consumer France, added that the collaboration resulted in a packaging design that captures the elegance of the Art Deco era, while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and attention to detail.

The Tales of Light home fragrance collection is expected to launch globally in May 2026, available online and in Lalique Beauty boutiques.

With its ongoing sustainability strategy, DS Smith continues to drive innovation in circular packaging solutions, supporting brands worldwide in reducing environmental impact while maintaining premium design standards.
