Cortec Corporation has introduced its CorShield VpCI-146 Paper, a double-sided anticorrosion packaging solution designed to support sustainability, automation, and efficient corrosion protection for metal components.

The paper can be used to wrap individual parts such as gears and bearings or to interleave entire pallets. It releases Vapour phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCI) from both sides, forming a protective molecular layer on metal surfaces within a sealed package. Once the package is opened, the inhibitors dissipate naturally, removing the need for additional cleaning or degreasing.

In addition to performance, the solution aligns with environmental goals. CorShield VpCI-146 Paper is a USDA-certified biobased product and can be recycled into new paper materials after use, contributing to circular economy practices.

The product has also demonstrated compatibility with automated packaging systems. In one case, a manufacturer used the paper to separate layers of brake rotors, where machines unrolled and cut the paper to size before robotic placement between each layer. The process concluded with automated wrapping using Cor-Pak VpCI Stretch Film, creating a streamlined and efficient packaging workflow.

CorShield VpCI-146 Paper can be applied for both short-term shipments and storage in dry environments. It can also be used alongside VpCI-126 Bags for enhanced protection, offering added corrosion resistance, cushioning, and limited moisture absorption—especially useful for components packaged while still warm from production.
