Antalis has announced an expandable mailing bag made by Jiffy, featuring ‘flex-to-fit’ Hexpand technology and designed to fit snugly around products, eliminating the need for oversized boxes and unnecessary padding.
The bag is also said to be FSC certified and consists of recyclable materials. The Jiffy Hexpand Mailer aims to save packing time, shipping costs and warehouse space. Antalis adds that key features of the new bag include up to 2.5 times the capacity of standard paper mailers, horizontal and vertical expandable gussets and is available in 3 popular sizes.
According to the company, the mailer is 15% lighter than boxes with traditional void fill, sturdy and tamper-proof. The Jiffy Hexpand Mailer is suitable for a wide range of e-commerce, retail or direct-to-consumer shipping.
In similar news, this summer e-commerce packaging company Modepack revealed its mailing bags created from lignin and post-consumer recycled plastics, said to cut CO2 emissions by up to 60–70% compared to conventional recycled plastic mailers. The company adds that the bags deliver emission savings through using renewable inputs, re-purposing industrial waste and compatibility with LDPE recycling streams.
More recently, Gluecom and Techlan partnered last month to create a 100% recycled release liner and adhesive solution for e-commerce packaging, said to reduce carbon emissions and delivery times. Techlan states that its cleaning process results in Re-Liner, said to perform just as well as new material, with shorter delivery times and 67% less carbon emissions compared to virgin materials.
