Duni Group has introduced an innovative addition to its sustainable packaging portfolio with the launch of Tray Contrast and Ronda Contrast, a new black paper-based packaging collection designed to elevate food presentation while addressing environmental concerns.
Traditionally, black packaging has been widely favored in the food industry for its ability to create a striking visual contrast that enhances the appearance of meals. However, black plastic has posed a persistent challenge in waste management systems, as it is often difficult to detect and sort during recycling processes. Recognizing this gap, Duni Group has developed a paper-based alternative that maintains the premium aesthetic appeal of black packaging while improving compatibility with existing sorting and recycling systems.
The newly launched Tray Contrast and Ronda Contrast range reflects a growing industry demand for solutions that combine visual appeal with sustainability and practicality. According to Matilda Pettersson, Category Manager for Boxes & Bowls at Duni Group, the company identified a clear need for packaging that not only enhances the presentation of food but also performs efficiently throughout its lifecycle, including post-consumer sorting. The new collection is designed to meet these expectations by balancing functionality, visibility, and ease of handling.
The collection includes a variety of black paper-based trays and bowls equipped with a functional barrier that ensures product integrity. These are paired with transparent lids, allowing consumers to clearly view the contents, making them particularly suitable for retail shelves and takeaway services. While primarily intended for cold food applications, the packaging can withstand temperatures of up to 70°C, offering versatility for a range of food items. Additionally, the secure, tight-fitting lids enhance safety during transport and handling.
Sustainability remains a central focus of the new range. The trays and bowls are manufactured using FSC®-certified and other responsibly sourced materials, ensuring that the raw materials come from well-managed forests and controlled sources. Importantly, the packaging is produced without the addition of PFAS, aligning with increasing regulatory and consumer demand for safer, non-toxic materials in food packaging.
To further support brand differentiation, parts of the Tray Contrast and Ronda Contrast collection can be customized, allowing businesses to incorporate their own graphic identity and strengthen their market presence.
With this launch, Duni Group continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainable innovation, offering solutions that not only enhance the consumer experience but also contribute to reducing the environmental footprint of food packaging.
