MM Board & Paper has introduced ALASKA BRIGHT NEW, a folding boxboard designed for packaging converters, focusing on improved material efficiency without compromising performance.

The company stated that the new grade features reduced weight in selected grammages while maintaining the print quality, surface finish, and converting performance associated with its existing ALASKA BRIGHT range.

Manufactured at MM Kotkamills in Finland, the board is suited for a variety of applications, including cosmetics, dry foods, graphical uses, and healthcare and personal care packaging. It also offers a printable surface compatible with coding technologies such as laser and inkjet systems.

MM Board & Paper highlighted the growing demand for packaging that can accommodate more data, especially as regulations like the EU’s Digital Product Passport reshape industry requirements. This shift is increasing the need for clear, high-quality code readability on packaging.

The product is based on the company’s expertise in virgin fibre cartonboard. At MM Kotkamills, production is supported by an integrated setup that includes a board machine, a rebuilt paper machine, and a pulp mill, ensuring consistent quality and process control.

Michael Strobl, Innovation and Technical Services Director at MM Board & Paper, said the new board enhances material efficiency while retaining the familiar characteristics customers rely on. He emphasized that ALASKA BRIGHT NEW delivers consistent appearance, surface quality, print performance, and converting behavior—“refined, not reinvented.”
