The LEGO GroupĀ celebrates a new milestone as it shifts towards more sustainable resources. The company reports that 56% of its packaging lines are transitioning from single-use plastic bags to paper-based alternatives, an initiative launched in 2022.
The increase in sustainable efforts has led to new paper-based packaging lines in itsĀ ChinaĀ and Vietnam factories. The company will also implement full changes in its Czech Republic and Hungary locations by 2026, with its Mexico factory set to shift in 2027. IncorporatingĀ sustainableĀ materials aligns with The LEGO Groupās eco-friendly direction, as 93% of its current packaging consists of paper, cardboard, and other recyclable materials.
āThis will just be the end of phase one. We are on an ongoing continuous improvement journey,ā Jesper ToubĆøl, VP of R&D, packing and packaging for The LEGO Group, says. āOnce the rollout of bags is complete, weāll explore ways to enhance the bags and the building experience they offer children and families, even better.ā
