{"id":5283,"date":"2025-06-06T18:04:28","date_gmt":"2025-06-06T12:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.corrugman.com\/?p=5283"},"modified":"2025-06-18T14:32:29","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T09:02:29","slug":"industry-publishes-updated-voluntary-standard-for-recycling-cardboard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.corrugman.com\/?p=5283","title":{"rendered":"Industry Publishes Updated Voluntary Standard for Recycling Cardboard"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-pm-slice=\"0 0 []\"><span style=\"color: #b58468;\"><em><strong>The American Forest &amp; Paper Association (AF&amp;PA) and Fibre Box Association (FBA) today announced an update to their \u201cVoluntary Standard For Repulping and Recycling Coated or Treated Corrugated Fiberboard and its Equivalents in the Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) Recycling Stream.\u201d<\/strong> <\/em><\/span><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-pm-slice=\"0 0 []\">The Voluntary Standard provides an industry-supported set of test protocols that evaluate whether products such as coated or treated cardboard packaging are repulpable and recyclable. \u201cOur industry is committed to continuous improvement and capturing as much paper-based material from the waste stream as possible,\u201d said Vice President, Industry Affairs, Terry Webber.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis Voluntary Standard will help our industry develop innovative coatings and treatments for cardboard packaging to meet customer needs, while also ensuring they can be validated as repulpable and recyclable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A joint committee of AF&amp;PA and FBA members developed the update to the Voluntary Standard. It is aligned with current mill technology and manufacturing practices.
