We have expanded our innovation footprint in Hungary with a significant \u20ac34 million investment, supported by the Hungarian investment Promotion Agency. This investment will enhance our operations across key locations in F\u00fczesabony, Nagyk\u00e1ta, and Gy\u0151r, with the projects\u2019 completion anticipated by April 2026.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h5>\n

This is part of DS Smith Packaging\u2019s ambitious growth strategy in East Europe, as we drive sustainable packaging solutions across the region and create value for our customers and partners. According to\u00a0Reinier Schlatmann, Managing Director, DS Smith Packaging East Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“With nearly thirty years of market presence, our \u20ac34.4 million investment in Hungary marks a pivotal step in strengthening our footprint in Eastern Europe, enhancing our manufacturing capacity and advancing our commitment to sustainable packaging solutions\u201d.<\/p>\n

This strategic expansion aims to boost our manufacturing capacity by over 40%, introducing advanced capabilities, and setting new quality benchmarks to meet the highest customer standards.<\/p>\n

Overview of the strategic investment across DS Smith\u2019s Hungarian sites:<\/strong><\/p>\n

F\u00fczesabony \u2013 A new hub for innovative packaging solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n

This brownfield investment is aimed at establishing a highly efficient, state-of-the-art facility in F\u00fczesabony with a strong focus on automation. The investment will be completed by the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

Gy\u0151r \u2013 Driving innovation in plastic replacement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The investment includes plans to install the new converting equipment at the Gy\u0151r site to expand capacity, enhance efficiency, and improve product quality. The next phase of investment is set to start in 2025.<\/p>\n

Nagyk\u00e1ta \u2013 Raising quality and energy efficiency standards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Nagyk\u00e1ta<\/a><\/em> site, the investment will prioritize the modernization of the corrugator to improve board quality while meeting the high expectations of DS Smith\u2019s customers. This investment will commence in 2025.<\/p>\n

Engaging young minds: we establish eco-classrooms to promote sustainability.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This investment includes the establishment of three eco-classrooms in Hungary, highlighting DS Smith’s commitment to enhancing environmental education. The most recent classroom, built in F\u00fczesabony, is a flexible space created by architecture students to encourage hands-on learning and foster ecological awareness among children.<\/p>\n

Operating across eight locations with over one thousand employees,\u00a0DS Smith Hungary\u00a0is delivering innovative and fibre-based packaging solutions to hundreds of customers and collaborators in the region.<\/p>\n
